We Heart Firefighters
By jen |
Watching wildfires consume so much of California, our heart goes out to the victims and the firefighters risking their own lives to save others.
Though we feel helpless in this tragedy, we thought the least we could do was support the first responders. This week showtheLOVE will donate $10 to CaFire Foundation for every purchase you make of our new Open Your Heart necklace/choker.

Lion Energy Necklace
By jen |
As a Leo, I’ve always identified with lions. They are brave, powerful, fierce, loyal, dignified, and true in love and life. When I wear this large beautiful lion, those qualities are in the forefront of my mind even more than usual; and I feel I can accomplish ANYTHING with honor and grace. Huge kudos and gratitude to Jen and Ariana for showing the love in their design, their ethics, and they way they give back to so many worthy charities. They are true lionesses in our midst.

Do You Know Someone With Depression?
By jen |
I am very open about my struggles with depression as I hope that by speaking up it will help destigmatize mental illness. People say, “You don’t seem like you are depressed. You are so happy and outgoing” or “You have a dream life — you have nothing to be sad about.” And they are right, I am good at turning my frown upside down to appear okay. And they are right, I do have great life.
But that doesn’t stop the darkness from overcoming me. It doesn’t stop the chemicals in my body from being imbalanced, begging me to turn off the lights. I am grateful to have finally found the right medicine for me as for the last two years I have not experienced any darkness. This has been the first time in my life I have not been tempted to take my own life.
I am one of the lucky ones that found a medicine that works. Millions of others are on a never ending journey of trial and error with medicines that effect every part of who they are and who they can be. They need your love and support. Please do not dismiss their illnesss as being all in their head, or as being something that they can control if only they were to eat better or exercise.
To honor those who suffer from any kind of mental illness, I made the Astonishing Light necklace* as a call to action for us all to be there for those who are in need of a reminder of their own astonishing light. Please share this message so that together we may help others.
“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being.” – Hafiz

My Powerful Phoenix
By jen |
By: Katherine L, Dream Work Specialist:
My favorite piece of STL jewelry is my Phoenix pendant. I love this piece as it was given to me by a very special friend just after I survived cancer treatment and was fighting my way back to health. Each time I put it on it makes me feel like a bad-ass… empowered and capable of beating the odds and strong. It is a reminder that out of the ashes rises beauty and strength. While I have a lot of “more valuable” jewelry, it is the heart and soul in this inspirational piece that I will value and cherish forever.

I wanted to reach out. I just ordered one of your beautiful bracelets for my mother for Christmas. I live in Chapel Hill, NC and am friends with MJ! She wears your bracelet all the time and I have always admired it. My mother is currently battling Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer (and doing very well, actually) and I, too, had a little hiccup with breast cancer recently. We have all had to be so strong. I love, love, love your bracelet and am so excited to give it to my mom for Christmas. Thank you!

Feeding the Next Gen Wolf Cubs
By jen |
We just completed a series of workshops with 80, 16 year olds in the UK who are prepping for their fist major national exams.
After 968 student interactions and meeting their parents we are done.
Our aim? To enable them to recognise their unique strengths, talents and approach this challenge with fierce confidence.
Feed the Wolf was a foundational coaching theme for us and a powerful learning trigger for them.
The story led them to explore their self doubts and self belief through the lens of positive and negative thoughts and actions.
Today, we have 80 young adults moving forward in their lives with this story embedded in their hearts and minds.
So fortunate to have met Jen Pleasants when I was pregnant with my first wolf cub.
So fortunate to know her and – through her creativity and passion – to inspire the next generation.
Wearing my wolf with pride and love..
Thank you Jen for showing the love
The “What Would You Create?” Contest
By jen |
I always felt in my heart I was an artist, but nothing I did confirmed that. I could not draw very well, I could not paint very well so I thought, I am not an artist. But the reality is we are all artists, human beings are creative by nature. If we are lucky, we discover how to express our creativity. For me it was using clay. I found that when working with clay I felt so calm and grounded and I realized could turn a lump into something recognizable and that was really fulfilling for me. I find that so many people I talk to have a great idea for a design of a piece of jewelry or even just an inspirational quote they would like to see on a piece. We would love to bring to one of your ideas to life, hence the “What Would You Create” contest.
So write us at showthelove@showthelove.com and tell us what you would create as far as jewelry goes. If we pick your idea, we will bring your piece to life and you will receive three pieces of it for free (in sterling silver) and have an opportunity to earn a percentage of our sales revenue from that piece.
Spread the word to friends and family. Kids are eligible too. My 11 year old daughter has created some of our best sellers! Contest runs from today until November 11th 2018. Winner will be announced the week of November 12th. All submissions become property of showtheLOVE.
Astonishing Light vs. Darkness, Suicide Is Not an Option
By jen |
By Jen P.
This week is National Suicide Prevention week. Why am I telling you this? For starters, I myself suffer from depression and have at times wanted to end my own life. Luckily, with great support and the right diet and medications, I am now in a good place and am able help others who suffer from the same. I counsel young girls who like me, have a chemical imbalance that keeps them from thinking clearly and I try to show them how to ride the ups and downs and encourage them to ‘just keep swimming’ (one of my favorite Dory quotes).
In addition to having depression and wanting to destigmatize it by openly talking about it, I want to use my art to give others strength. showtheLOVE has offered a few pieces (featured below) over the years that are meant to inspire people to keep living and to live their best life.
Recently, I was asked to create a piece to call attention to depression in honor of a young girl who died of suicide in our community. Her friends and family are participating in an event this weekend in San Francisco called Out of the Darknesswhere people walk all night into the sunrise and out of the darkness to show solidarity for those who suffer and to raise funds and awareness to fight suicide. So I created a piece called ‘Astonishing Light‘ after the beautiful Hafiz quote, “I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being”. The quote struck a chord with me and I hope it does with others who hear this message. A portion of the proceeds from this piece will benefit Out of the Darkness.
Meanwhile, if you or someone you know is mentally in a bad place there are so many new ways to get out of it and into the light. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to hear more as I know a thing or two about this subject and genuinely want to help as I know that pain.
Astonishing Light
Imprinted with the words ‘Astonishing Light’ from the Hafiz quote, “I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being”, let this piece be your loving companion, a reminder to always have hope, to know that you are not alone, and that you are loved and worthy.
Stronger Than Fear
Stamped with the words ‘Stronger than Fear’, this piece is a reminder not to make decisions based on fear. Wear this piece and know that what is within you is stronger than what is in your way!
One Day At A Time
Recovery is hard. This piece is a great reminder to be gentle on your self and take it slowly, one day at a time. Sometimes getting well involves taking two steps forward and one step back and that is okay. Keep moving forward. With each new day brings new opportunity to heal and renew. A truly special piece that we hope brings much solace and the vision of total healing.
showtheLOVE and Project Semicolon

One of our customers sent us this image of her wearing our She Believed She Could ring next to her Semicolon tattoo. It is so powerful as the semicolon represents the notion that ‘Your Story Isn’t Over Yet’. Project Semicolon, founded by Amy Bleuel, is an organization dedicated to the prevention of suicide. Read more about their work here.

Feed the Wolf
By jen |
I’ve never thought of myself as a necklace guy. But when I saw “Feed the Wolf” and heard the story behind it, I immediately felt a little calling of the wild. I now wear this wolf every day. Most of the time it is under my shirt and not visible to anyone. But I feel its power against my chest. It reminds me that there are two wolves inside and it brings me regular moments of consciousness to feed the good wolf that fights for love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, and compassion.
Wear Your Truth- Inspirational Messages
By jen |
By Jen P.
This past year, I have been obsessed with buying t-shirts, posters or really any knick knacks with inspirational messages on them. I am just desperate to surround myself with positive vibes. Most especially I love to wear those messages close to my heart with the jewelry I choose, which is why I am so proud of our latest “Speak Your Truth” collection because the messaging is so powerful and uplifting. As you might know, I feel very strongly about why it is important to ‘Speak Your Truth’ as detailed in a previous blog post. Hoping you will be inspired to speak yours. Which of the following Speak Your Truth messages resonate with you?
Rise Up Mantra
“Seek to Understand, Always Take Sides, Watch Us Rise!”, we hope this piece helps you feel your power.
Ho’oponopono
Use this ancient Hawaiian mantra as a daily practice of reconciliation and forgiveness. Whenever you have negative thoughts or emotions, hold your necklace. Then repeat to yourself the words stamped on this piece: “I’m sorry, Please forgive me, I love you, Thank you.”
Astonishing Light
Imprinted with the words of the Hafiz quote, “I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being”, let this piece be your loving companion, a reminder to always have hope, to know that you are not alone, and that you are loved and worthy.
Child of the Universe
Stamped with the first line of one of our favorite poems, The Desiderata, this necklace reminds us that “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars”.
Carol’s Story

By Carol L. – This is my go to combination. I love wearing these necklaces (Girl Power and Direction) as they make me feel strong and proud to be a woman. As an active supporter of women entrepreneurs I know each piece represents love, creativity and positive energy.

What is Special About Our Handcrafted Jewelry?
By jen |
We had a guest in the studio today that was really in awe of our process of how our jewelry is created. They were surprised that in today’s world of computers, 3-D printing and digital imaging that our pieces begin as and idea and a lump of clay. As a sculptor, I can’t imagine doing it any other way. I love working with clay and using my hands to shape it into anything I dream up. I must admit, it is much easier for me to make bigger things, like the bust I made of my husband (see photo below), than it is to make tiny pieces of jewelry, but I enjoy it none the less.
Anyway, back to the process– one of the reasons our jewelry is so unique is that it is made with actual human energy, creativity and love–it is handcrafted or handsculpted and has a story. I like to imagine that if you were to find one of our pieces buried in the ground, and dig it up, you would not know if it was made today or from hundreds or thousands of years ago– made before the age of machines, when artists created with their hands when there was beauty in imperfection. Our inspirational, handcrafted jewelry is unlike anything you can buy anywhere and not only does it have an authentic artisanal look and feel, the inspirational messages we give each piece have a real connection to the wearer. When I create, I add love and good energy to the pieces and I feel like once the pieces are fired and comes out of the kiln they become magical talismans, and from the stories that people send in about how the pieces inspire them, it is hard not to believe this is true!
Speak Your Truth
By jen |
I have been thinking a lot about what do I stand for? Who am I if I am not speaking my truth and speaking up for those who are unable to speak up for themselves?
My strength to speak up comes and goes depending on how I am feeling each day. Some days I can shout it from the roof tops (or post it on Facebook) and other days I would be happy to stay silent in fetal position under the covers. Though more and more I am struck by how hard it is for people to find the strength to speak their truth. This Elie Wiesel quote is always with me and has inspired our latest collection that is coming out in a few weeks– aptly named the ‘Speak Your Truth’ collection. I hope that by wearing our truths around our necks we will find the strength to speak up more often.
“We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must – at that moment – become the center of the universe.” –Elie Wiesel
What do you stand for? We would love to know! Tell us at showthelove@showthelove.com.

Happy Birthday America!
By jen |
Happy Birthday America! What a mess we find ourselves in this year! Normally when I make my Fourth of July berry pavlova, I make the berries all aligned and in the design of our flag. This year I feel a more jumbled pavlova coming on. One that communicates our country’s chaos on one end, and on the other end, one that is hopeful as expressed by the mixing of the red and the blue together — a pavlova that represents connection with all people despite race, religion, sex or political party. While I am indulging in my Independence Day dessert I will be manifesting this dream. After all, no matter who we are, we all dream of a better future for our children even if we disagree on how to get there. #GodBlessAmerica #Inspriation

Emma’s Gift
By jen |
By Emma:I gave the wonder star necklace to my dear friend and kindred spirit and mentor, Leila Bruno, who has dedicated her life to working TIRELESSLY in the women’s movement as well as the environmental movement. She was talking about how this whole summer she’s been sleeping outside under the stars in her backyard and how she’s been nervous to be in the city because she’s not going to have the stars to ground her… and I found this quote in my journal that I shared with her:
“Intuition is the many-eyed eyes of the universe. When we assert intuition we are therefore the starry night: we gaze at the world through a thousand eyes”And we were thinking about how she could look for stars and eyes in other things around on her travels… and of course the WW necklace IS A STAR!!! You are seriously creating things with divine design, Jen. That couldn’t have been a more perfect gift for Leila.

Living Ubuntu
By jen |
By Karmella: Ubuntu is my word for 2017. Jen was kind enough to make her Ubuntu necklace into a bracelet so I could wear it continually. As I go through my day, it easily, and beautifully, reminds me that my humanity is linked to everyone else’s humanity. It informs the thoughts I think, the actions I take, and the words I speak.
Not Just Another Necklace
By jen |
By: Jocelyn Mangan
I bought my first “She Believed She Could So She Did” necklace when I first discovered it through Jen. I loved the message and wore it proudly. Last year my mom had to have two knee replacements and was facing a tough year of very little travel and activity, two things she loves. My mom is also a lover of jewelry and over the years, has come to acquire a few pieces, so giving her a necklace and getting her to wear it is not easy. However, when she got this one, the message resonated so strongly with her, and she wore it every day that year and would often refer to it as a reminder to be strong when times were not easy. I am happy to report that she has two new knees, is as active as ever, and still wearing it every day.
