Okay, how do I say this politely? I am loving the trend of charities selling the handy works of the people they are benefiting, but some of the items are really not that cute. I buy them to support the cause, and then I don't really use them.
These bracelets from
Same Sky, however, are awesome! I love the boho-chic-ness of them - perfect for summer! And they are made from Rwanadian textiles and glass blown beads. So many of the handmade goods I have been seeing lately from third world countries are made of plastic and I would so much rather have a piece made from natural materials.
Same Sky employs
HIV-positive women in
Rwanda who survived the 1994 Genocide. Their unique bracelets are made of handblown glass beads crocheted by women artisans. Each bracelet carries the signature of the woman who made it. By buying a Same Sky bracelet, you become a part of the movement of women empowering women and the men who support them under the same sky.
They also make bracelets that are more formal with just glass beads.
