This article in the NY Times today by Nicholas Kristof stuck a chord with me. It was about a guy, Scott Harrison, who liked to 'party' too much then ended up being down and out and having a spiritual crisis. As he put it:
"I realized I was the most selfish, sycophantic and miserable human being," he recalled. "I was the worst person I knew."
That is until he started doing volunteer work and eventually created what I think to be one of the coolest organizations out there, charity: water. I am so inspired by people who are down and out and instead of turning to dispair, they turn the situation around and help themselves by helping others. The article is great--check it out here. It will not only make your day but it will make you think about how you spend your days.
BTW, for just $20, you can provide clean drinking water for an African child for 20 years.
