bigstockphoto_International_Womens_Day_4533235.jpgWe don't really celebrate it here in the United States but in other countries around the world International Women's Day is a national holiday to pay tribute to the economic, political and social achievements of women past present and future. It is celebrated by giving gifts and flowers to women much like Valentine's Day here in the U.S. Although it is a global celebration of women, it is also a day to reflect on women who are still in need of help.

This must watch video below shows girl after girl who has tried to kill themselves by lighting themselves on fire to escape their oppressive and abusive marriages in Afghanistan.   Some of these girls were married off as young as 7.  Let's be grateful for the rights and privileges we share in the US and raise awareness for those who are still suffering so that someday these injustices may end.
