Raising Malawi?

Madonna and many of her closest friends and biggest celebs came out to the UN Headquarters in New York the evening of February 6 for a fundraiser for the children of Malawi.  The event garnered criticism from some because the UN facility allowed an event underwritten by Gucci (who just happened to be opening a new store in New York on February 7) and spearheaded by the Kabballah center of Los Angeles.  Attendees such as Tom and Katie, Gwyneth, Rihanna and Timbaland paid $10,000. to nosh on what I am betting was a macrobiotic menu and bid on opportunities to play soccer with David Beckham and take a dance class with Madonna.  The fact that they raised over 3.7 million dollars for the children of Malawi makes me want to complain about something more worthy!
