Okay, in my wildest dreams I would not be singing the praises of hunters, but apparently there are a few with a heart. Hunters for the Homeless is an organization that helps bring deer meat to homeless shelters and has fed over a million people. Read more here.

First Ladies Unite
In Ouagadougou first ladies from the west African countries of Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Togo and Burkina Faso are coming together to try to put an end to the awful awful tradition of female circumcision (aka genital mutilation) that is happening in over 30 countries today. This is a great first step in helping make the world a better place. It fits in with what I have been saying this week to my kids. "No one can do everything, but everyone can do something." +The $2,000 tax credit limit for residential solar systems has been lifted, meaning that homeowners can get a 30% tax credit on the solar panels they install after Dec. 31, 2008. That will save folks who want to install a system serious money -- especially for those who live in states with generous state rebates. (If you buy a $24,000 3-kilowatt solar array in California -- big enough to power the average home - you can claim a $7,200 federal tax credit. Add in the state solar rebate and the cost of the system is cut in half.)
+ The bill also includes tax credits of $3,000 or more toward the purchase of fuel-efficient, plug-in hybrid vehicles. To learn more about plug-in hybrids, click here.

The Ultimate Soccer Mom
OMG... I love this.... read this letter I got from a woman in my community today!
Dear Parents,
Talking to friends I came to realize that, at the start of this soccer season,
many of us are left with soccer gear that no longer fits.
Do you have one or more pairs of soccer cleats in your garage but none
fit your children ?
I would like to try out a recycling program for soccer cleats and
shinguards.
I have two bins set up next to my driveway, one for soccer
cleats, one for shinguards.
Ideally, bring the soccer cleats and shinguards that no longer
fit your child(ren) and grab a pair that does fit.
If you do not have any pair(s) to trade in and are new to soccer,
feel free to take a pair that fits your child(ren).
If you are dropping off cleats but can't find the size you need,
leave me a note with the size you are looking for and I will
give you a call when I see some.
PLEASE, only take what your child can use THIS season,
and if you take a pair without donating one,
return it at the end of the season!
(I'll have a chair and soccer socks available so your child can try on shoes)
